General Self-Management

Our general self-management programme runs over 6 weeks. This programme is designed for anyone who has a long-term health condition of any kind, whether it be a physical or mental health condition. It is also valuable for those who are caring for someone with a long-term health condition, as it can also offer support for the carer’s own health and wellbeing. There are a wide range of topics covered, which include:

  • Managing symptoms like pain and fatigue to improve how you feel
  • Setting weekly realistic goals using Action Plans
  • Problem solving and decision making skills
  • Relaxation and distraction techniques
  • Managing the difficult emotions that almost everyone experiences when living with a long-term health condition

New Beginnings for Mental Health

This free programme runs over 7 weeks with one session each week of 2.5 hrs and can help support anyone over 18 who is living with depression/anxiety which is challenging their mental health.

The programme includes:

Our programmes are free and are provided by your local NHS. They are run by volunteers and staff who have mental health challenges just like you.  It doesn’t interfere with any treatment you are currently receiving as it complements other healthcare programmes.

Cancer- Thriving and Surviving

Are you living with or beyond a diagnosis of cancer? If you're struggling to manage the impact cancer is having, or has had, on your life, then our 6-week self-management programme may help. The programme is also valuable for anyone who is caring for a loved one, relative or close friend who is living with cancer. The focus is on sharing supportive tools and techniques together with others affected by cancer to learn effective ways to deal with some of the common issues and difficulties people experience.

Topics include:

  • Managing changes to your body
  • Living with uncertainty
  • Dealing with difficult emotions
  • Relationships with others
  • Planning small, achievable goals
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Making decisions about treatments

There are 6 weekly sessions, with each session lasting for 2.5 hours with a scheduled break in the middle. The programme is led by staff and volunteers who have lived experience of the impact of a cancer diagnosis in their lives.      All Programmes Flyer
